Instagram Desperation Cycle

At first in the beginning, when I started using Instagram, it was an amazing experience to post your daily updates or photos. It felt good to see friends photo on Instagram and post a comment.

As time was passing with daily personal routine Instagram became part of my daily activity to check upon. I frequently started to check-in into Instagram to see what’s happening in peoples life. I cannot specifically explain how it feels and why we constantly use this app, but things changed suddenly when I started posting to “Status” on Instagram, my daily experiences. I was aware of the social media apps are harmful to our mental health, but it’s hard that you could save yourself from its addiction. I miss the time when social media apps were far away things in the daily schedule.

Who would have thought that social media would kill our time and bring-in mixed feeling and make us feel miserable when we face the real deal with the actual world?

The things we put up onto social media pushes our brain to check what have we got in terms of views, like and comment. This repetitive action consumes our time and makes us feel desperate. Desperation to get following, desperation for like, desperation for comments and when things don’t turn up as the way you wanted, it makes you feel bad about yourself and things starts to crumble down in your brain.

The truth about your Instagram post is not equivalent to personal life activities. Social Media is a virtual worlds where a person does not know are the expressions and feelings of the other person, it’s a true fact. To add an extra point, the social media world does not exist in reality. It’s another dimension of time where time halts and makes your brain to engage in repeating cycle of emotional desperation to constantly check who liked and commented on your photo. In the real world, things move along with time, and washes away, whereas in social media time repeats itself.

It does not stop there; there is identity loss on Instagram. People pretend to be a different person than they actually are in the real world. There is no real perception of a person that you will find on Instagram. To elaborate, people tend to post their experience indirectly through quotes, movie song, poetry and photos have a background image of their state of mind.

There are many mental harmful effects from social media which are yet to explore. It’s the darkest tunnel where one without proper guidance and a mental map would be wasted in vain. Nothing is more important than social media these days for youngsters. There is a vast psychological impact created by social media which can turn people on or off within a fraction of seconds.

Virtue, Morality and Personality are shaped by social media. It normalizes social stigma, encourages people to think in a particular way. A single post creates differing views for many because every individual has different living experiences towards life. Some might consider it as inspiring, some think it as boring, and some might get deceived.

It’s a weird and wired world where things are changed and made in the quickest moment. I wonder how future generation would accept this madhouse. Or they will also be the part of this madhouse of the broken and brave hero.

Views personal, Critique are welcomed.
